Centralus Health Completes 15-Month Transition to Epic Electronic Health Record System

Home 9 Blog 9 Centralus Health Completes 15-Month Transition to Epic Electronic Health Record System

Arnot Health and Cayuga Health have successfully transitioned to Epic, a best-in-class electronic health record (EHR) system.  This project to transform the coordination of care across the region is the two systems’ first patient facing joint effort following their January 2025 affiliation under the new name “Centralus Health.”

The EHR launch is the culmination of a 15-month implementation process, with Arnot Health and Cayuga Health working with Xtensys, a connected health solutions company, on this mission critical project. Xtensys, which was formed in 2023, provides a full range of technology and consulting services, including building and supporting advanced applications such as Epic, to community health providers.  This allows these organizations to support their patients and workforce with the same access to technology tools usually reserved for large health systems.

Epic’s implementation at Centralus Health aligns with the organization’s broader mission to enhance healthcare services through state-of-the-art technology and integrated care solutions. More than seven existing electronic medical record systems have been replaced by Epic’s fully integrated solution that ensures every patient has a single comprehensive medical record. The transition included extensive training and support to ensure a smooth adoption for providers and staff.  Epic allows for a seamless exchange of health information across all Centralus Health facilities, improving efficiency for providers and enhancing the patient experience.

“Our transition to Epic is a transformative step for Centralus Health,” said Dr. Martin Stallone, CEO of Cayuga Health and Centralus Health. “By moving to a single, integrated EHR, we are ensuring our providers have access to real-time patient information, improving the quality and coordination of care. Most importantly, our patients will benefit from a more connected and accessible healthcare experience through MyChart, the Epic patient portal.”

With MyChart now live, patients across the region can take advantage of a more streamlined and interactive healthcare experience. Those who have previously used separate portals for Arnot Health and Cayuga Health will now have a single portal where they can schedule appointments, securely message with their providers, access virtual care, receive test results and even pay bills.

Jonathan Lawrence, CEO of Arnot Health and Executive Vice President of Centralus Health, highlighted the significance of this move for both providers and patients. “The implementation of Epic represents our commitment to innovation and patient-centered care. With a single EHR across Centralus Health, we are eliminating barriers to information sharing, reducing administrative burdens, and allowing our clinicians to focus on what matters most—delivering exceptional care.”
