As part of the 2025 Subaru Loves to Care Event, local Subaru dealerships donated cozy blankets to cancer patients receiving treatment at Centralus Health. The donation is part of a national partnership between Subaru and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), which has provided patients and their families with comforting resources during their cancer journey since 2016.
This year, Maguire Subaru of Ithaca donated blankets to patients at the Cayuga Cancer Center, while Simmons-Rockwell Subaru provided blankets for patients at Arnot Health’s Falck Cancer Center.
“These blankets are a meaningful addition to the care kits we provide our patients,” said Steph Bailey, System Director of Philanthropy at Cayuga Health. “Beyond offering physical warmth, especially during treatment, they serve as a powerful reminder that our patients are supported by their entire community.”
Each year, Subaru invites its retailers to partner with local cancer treatment centers as part of their commitment to making a difference in the lives of patients. The donated blankets help manage treatment side effects, such as chills from chemotherapy, while also offering a sense of comfort and care. Cancer care kits, provided by the Cayuga Medical Center Foundation and Arnot Health Foundation, also include helpful items not covered by insurance, such as lip balm, lotion, and moisturizer.
“The generosity of our local Subaru dealerships is truly appreciated,” said Lisa Ventura, Senior Director of the Arnot Health Foundation. “These donations show our patients that they are not alone; there are people and businesses in our region who care deeply about their well-being.”
